Randle Browning

I am a writer from Texas interested in art, landscape, and family. My work has appeared in The Believer, the Virginia Quarterly Review, the New York Review of Architecture, The Rumpus, the Los Angeles Review of Books, the Brooklyn Rail, and elsewhere, and has been supported by Jentel Artist Residency and Catwalk Artist Residency. I live in Flatbush, Brooklyn with my partner and young daughter and am at work on a nonfiction book spanning five generations of my Texas family.

I led content marketing teams at tech startups for over 8 years before going back to school in 2022 for my MFA in creative writing at Columbia University, where I was a print editor at the Columbia Journal. I also hold an MA in English Literature from Boston College. I’ve taught writing at Columbia, Boston College, and the Chesapeake Writers Conference at St. Mary’s College, Maryland.

In 2011, my partner and I opened Shorty’s Pizza Shack, a college dive bar and slice shop in Waco, TX. Our second location opened in 2023. Our bagel and coffee shop, 12th & Bagel, is coming in 2027. We now operate the restaurants with our four business partners and over 100 employees, and live between Waco and Brooklyn (somehow).

I’m also a songwriter and indie musician and periodically release and perform music. You can listen to my music on Spotify, Bandcamp, and other streaming services.
